Uraria lagopoides (scientific name: Uraria lagopoides ) is a creeping or climbing shrub that grows to a height of approximately 30-90 cm. It is characterized by the formation of pods (approximately 3.8 cm long and 2 cm wide) and is found in tropical and subtropical regions. It has long been used in traditional medicine and folk remedies for maintaining health and treating inflammation.

Traditionally, it has been used as a laxative, aphrodisiac, and for the treatment of periodic fevers, asthma, dysentery, and chest inflammation, and a decoction of the leaves has been used to maintain condition during diarrhea. Ayurvedic prescriptions containing this plant have also been recorded to be used for the treatment of rheumatism, fever, bleeding hemorrhoids, catarrh (inflammation of the mucous membranes), and scorpion stings. Furthermore, the buds have been reported to have uterine contractile properties and to inhibit implantation of a fertilized egg.
