The wax tree (scientific name: Rhus succedanea ) is a tall tree of the Anacardiaceae family native to the warm regions of Southeast Asia and East Asia. It is dioecious and grows to a height of approximately 10 meters. It produces flat, spherical fruits with a diameter of 5 to 15 mm. The surface of the fruit is glossy and hairless, green when immature and turns light brown when mature. The mesocarp is characterized by its coarse fibrous texture, filled with granules containing high-melting fat.
